Vauxhall Astra Coupe 1.8i 16V SE2 2d (2002/51) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value for a nice looking car, but you will be left wanting something a little more expensive.
Costs
Not as good as antisipated. Only 32mpg. Service costs quite high for a Vauxhall.

On the road
Driving
Quite an involving and sporty drive.
Performance
Quite nippy. Due to good gearing, not that different to the 2.2 litre.

Living with it
Reliability
Good so far. Had a crank shaft oil leak repaired under warranty at 24,000 miles. Other than that no problems.
Image
Nice looking car, especialy as this one has the same appearance as the turbo. Combination of black leather and blue alcantara add to the presence.
Comfort
Lumbar support is terrible. Even with it all the way off, it still feels like you have an iron bar across your back. Poor seat angle, just don't seem to be able to get a good driving position.

Security and Service
Security
Seems adequate. With double locking and immobiliser, should prove a deterent against the opportunist.
Service
Not good. Treated me like they were the customer. Made out they had done extras on the service for nothing, even though these things were part of the service as set out in the service book.
