Vauxhall Astra Coupe 2.0i 16v Turbo 2d (2002/52) Owner Review

Economy
Value
What you get in terms of car and performance is outstanding. I can't think of another car that would come close to this one in terms of value. (£12k with 12k on the clock, 1yr old from Network Q!!!!)
Costs
Normal Vauxhall costs - so quite reasonable. Relatively cheap insurance is also attractive. Considering its performance, it's fugal with fuel too.

On the road
Driving
Sure- footed drive. Electronic gizmo pack inspires confidence. Can take corners at speed ... Plenty of feedback and pleasurable to drive.
Performance
Excellent! Makes my previous Astra 2.0 SRi seem like a slug. No turbo lag and rapid acceleration right through the gears. NO performance on wet roads though - only steam and burning rubber! Doubt I'll ever know if it can really reach 152mph.

Living with it
Reliability
Rear disk brakes needed uprading (common Astra problem). Engine occassionally misses. No other problems to date.
Image
My car is in 'Tarted Gold', which when kept clean looks the part. Some other colours on offer give the car a very drab appearance.
Comfort
Adjustable seats (including lumbar) to fit. Very firm ride courtesy of the sports suspension. Tyre/road noise can be intrusive at times.

Security and Service
Security
Standard fit, dead locks, alarm and immobiliser. Unique fit radio/CD/Cass. No problems to date, touch wood!
Service
No service issues as yet.
