Vauxhall Astra Estate 1.4 L 5d (1991/H) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Cheap and cheerful. It will run for miles and can be bought for next to nothing.
Costs
Owned for 3 years without serious expenditure thanks to simple engineering and lack of electrical extras.

On the road
Driving
Superb. Precise and neat, although the lack of power steering can make manoeuvres a chore.
Performance
Not a very quick engine, but still happy on a motorway.
-
Living with it
Reliability
No complaints about any older Vauxhall. They just keep going.
Image
The Mk2 Astra is a cult classic amongst many, helped by the still popular GTE.
Comfort
Can easily take you across the country without the need to stop and rest your aching back.
-
Security and Service
Security
Sadly a screwdriver will let anybody into the mk2 Astra. An Alarm really needs fitting.
Service
Slightly inflated prices, but aren't all main dealers.
