Vauxhall Astra Estate (2004 - 2010) 1.8i 16V SRi 5d Owner Review

Acquired the car with 159000 miles on, gave it a service and new brakes, and it flew through it’s MOT. Only notable problems where a faulty heater fan, caused by blocked water drains, and a leaky rear door seal, this car is used as the runabout, it does everything a family needs, not bad on petrol but would benefit from an extra gear,( the gearbox is quite a close and low ratio box) can get a bit noisy at motorway speed. Seats are quite comfortable with height adjustment, with the adjustable steering wheel you can get a good driving position. Another common fault is the rear doors not locking, and speakers not working, this is usually broken wires between the door and the B post and is easily repaired. Overall a good reliable, practical estate car, that if regularly serviced and looked after will run forever, and not cost the earth to run
