Vauxhall Astra Hatchback 1.8i CD 5d (1989/F) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Cost £350 and has lots of toys and lots of poke.
Costs
Seriously thirsty - 250 miles to the tank. Parts cheap though. Insurance high.
-
On the road
Driving
No where near as good to drive as smaller engined versions.
Performance
This is seriously quick. Leaves XR2/3s at lights no problem.
-
Living with it
Reliability
For its age, it is very reliable. Only let me dowe once in 25k miles, with fuel relay failure.
Image
Mk2 Astra popular with cruisers, though CD is virtually unheard of.
Comfort
Lovely seats! Travelled 300 miles in one go, and never felt uncomfortable.

Security and Service
Security
Locks are a joke! Show it a screwdriver and it unlocks. Can't be hotwired though, much to a TWOCer's annoyance.
Service
Considering age of car, dealer was very helpful.
