Economy
Value
Paid a grand for mine, below average miles, not bad at all for the money!
Costs
Little bit thirsty for my liking in city driving, but apart form that hardly cost me anything.

On the road
Driving
Quite responsive, nicely weighted steering, fantastic brakes!
Performance
Very torquey engine, master the torque band in all the gears and you outpace most of these new small revvy 16v cars. Well over 110 mph flat out, pulls well in all gears, but doesnt like to be revved too hard!

Living with it
Reliability
Starts first time, every time, even with a radiator and head gasket leak
Image
Mines white, so its a bit of a police car image, but with some colour coded bumpers and some alloys off the cdx, would look rather nice. Much prefer the mk3's looks over any other Astra.
Comfort
Seats are a tad uncomfortable. I find it hard to get a nice driving position and the seats don't support through corners very well. Generally, the seats in my 94 1.4 LS were much better.

Security and Service
Security
Central locking as standard, immobiliser key, not sure how effective it would be if someone tried to steal it!
Service
Haven't taken it to a Vauxhall dealer, haven't needed to so far. Touch wood!

Problems
Engine
Replaced the rad, thought the head gasket was leaking (pressure in the water system, build up of white frothy gunk under oil and water caps), garage said there was nothing wrong with it and it was just condensation!
