Economy
Value
I have owned this car for 5 years. Bought for £6250, and today could probably sell for £3750? Although you can pay over the odds from a dealer, I would hold for a private sale like me and pay sensible money.
Costs
Insurance has always been expensive (even with full no-claims and a clean license), with most quotes around £700. However, at the moment I have found a company offering fully comp for £450. Bargain.

On the road
Driving
Pleasant drive, expecially on the motorway. Driving for long periods is not a problem.
Performance
Quick of the mark (although not as good as the 2.0) and through the gears. Handling through corners can be a let down. I found more confidence driving a ford transit!?

Living with it
Reliability
No breakdowns in 5 years (I have serviced the car myself), although the idle speed adjuster unit on the Ecotec engine can fail, which is expensive to replace. Insist on a test drive!
Image
It's red and the factory fitted bodywork makes all the difference. A clean car really turns people's heads. Add 17" alloys, WOW.
Comfort
Easy to find a comfortable driving position. Gear change is getting a bit notchy at 85,000 miles and suspension is starting to feel soggy compared to newer cars.

Security and Service
Security
Factory fitted alarm with deadlocking, backed up with a category 1 system, which most insurance companys will want…
Service
I may be biased. I generally tend to do all my own work because of per service levels.

No major probs. Idle speed adjduster needed replacing twice.
