Summary
What does this car say about you?
Nothing!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes but only and only for a cheap runabout carting goods. I will not buy another Astra otherwise. I will make an exception for the new Astra VXR though!
What are you likely to buy next?
Rover 620Ti, Rover 827, MG ZT, Vauxhall Omega, Vauxhall Frontera (2.2?).

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good but I'm used to driving a powerfuller car. No grip when pulling away from junctions (needs Traction Control/Limited Slip Differential, badly!). Suspension is O.K but my Rover 623 was much comfortable and performs better when cornering! Gearbox and cable-controoled clutch is awful! Needs more Torque (or a Turbo!). However it is fantastic on Motorways, plenty of power between 70 and 90 and happily to do 90+.
What's it like to park?
Hate reserving because of the lift reverse thing on the gear stick/knob!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No Heat from Heaters. Vauxhall (Dealer) claims that it was the Head Gasket failing but was no symptom leading to that. Turns out that the heather valve was blocked. £36 to repair. Unhappy with Vauxhall which quoted me £600-£700 for nothing.
What's most practical about your car?
Fuel Economy. Used to own a Rover 623 which kept drinking Fuel (½ tank a week!). Since buying the Astra, I'm only filling her up from empty once a month!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
1) Air Con - Love it, 2) Computer - Modern and Good .
