Economy
Value
As above, a good all round package, good on economy while also quite a perky car to drive. Also low insurance costs too.
Costs
Low servicing costs, reasonable reliability, good fuel economy and a low insurance group. Very good.

Driving
For the money this car is brilliant. A low budget sporty car. A perky engine combined with suspension that lotus apparently had a hand in developing :-) good fun for a 1.6.
Performance
105bhp (ish, i have heard various figures around this mark) + lotus tuned suspension = considerable pace and cornering ability considering this is a middle of the road family car.

Living with it
Reliability
the only problem i have encountered is oil usage, which i consider to be a little excessive. Vauxhall seem to think this is normal but i seem to be using a little bit more oil than most people that i know. so currently i am monitering the situation.
Image
Well as a young driver this car has gone down a treat with everyone i know. Not a head turner but a nice car none the less. I have had plenty of compliments but no-one has anything bad to say about the astra.
Comfort
Sports seats a supportive but might be a touch hard for some tastes. Also check the backrest (especially drivers side) as the supports inside the seat have broken in places on mine.

Security and Service
Security
Immobilizer and deadlocks. An alarm wouldn't go a miss but vauxhalls words to me were "people take no notice of noise-makers any more" so don't expect an alarm.
Service
I bought this car from a perry's dealer. I am very pleased with the car and that is why i would buy another. But i will never step foot onto another perry's forecourt after the way the services department have treated me (and others that i have heard of).

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Oil consumption a little high but does seem to be getting better.
Other
Check rear springs as these are notorious on mk4 Astra's apparently. Mine snapped altogether. Not a big cost to repair, but unnerving. No problems since though. Also LED's on dash are usually the first thing to go so make sure the dealer replaces them.
Ownership

Would you buy the same model again?
