Mr Suburban Average Joe
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Ok
Would you buy this car again and why?
No qualms with another Astra (my next car is the CDTI SRI 150bhp Astra) but wouldn't get a car so bland and boring to drive.
What are you likely to buy next?
Astra CDTI SRI 150. 0 - 60 in 8.3 secs, 50 mpg. Thanks very much!!!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£4,000
When did you buy the car?
June 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Not really - awful part ex deal but they normally are I suppose. Finance was sky high. Thanks Carcraft!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Better economy and reliability than the dog of an Alfa Romeo I had previously.
What was the dealer like?
They just try and secure deals with anybody that walks in - but first off to get the car took 2 weeks. Disgusting.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Sluggish, underpowered. Should have bought 1.8
What's it like to park?
Ok

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
New Cat needed, and aircon compressor needed after 2 months, covered by warranty. Starter motor and ignition switch went after 12 months, cost £300. After 2 years, thermostat housing broke (plastic tube that comes off it snapped off) but that was an easy home repair. Things starting to go wrong now, groaning as you pull off, exhaust needs changing, seat wearing away after 110k
What's most practical about your car?
Economy, cheapish to run, looks nice with lovely wheels.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Steering wheel controls.
