Economy
Value
Good value for what you get. Make sure you shop around for one with the optional goodies on it too.
Costs
Can't comment really, but cheaper than Peugeot for sure. Vauxhall parts have always been good value.

On the road
Driving
Sure footed. Doesn't feel as nimble as say the Peugeot 306, but then it is a bigger car. traction control is a Godsend on ice, snow and wet. The power steering is nicely weighted.
Performance
Certainly has lots of pull. More after 4000 rpm. Smooth power delivery. At first i thought it was slow compared to the 306 D'Turbo, but it's because the power doesn't appear in great lumps.

Living with it
Reliability
I hear the Ecotech engine is bombproof
Image
Looks sporty yet refined and elegant. I like the fact it doesn't say SRI on the back. Watch out baseball cap brigade.
Comfort
Excellent. Roomy. Loads of leg room. Big boot. I acually like the plain black dash. lumbar support on seats.

Security and Service
Security
Ultrasonic alarm, immobilser, deadlock, Thatcham locking wheels nuts, coded radio with removable panel. What else is there?
Service
They actually did a proper service unlike the Peugeot dealers i've used
