Economy
Value
Well-equipped with cruise control, CD, steering wheel radio/CD controls, lumbar adjustment etc. etc.
Costs
20K service interval though mine is a company car so I don't pay anyway. Have done 52K in less than 18 months and hasn't needed repair yet.

On the road
Driving
Good, but not as good as Focus, even with the sports suspension that this model comes with.
Performance
1.8 quite lively though get used to it quickly.

Living with it
Reliability
So far, so good. Just needed a replacement CD player under warranty.
Image
Biggest problem with the Astra - too common, dull-ish, now replaced, Vauxhall badge.
Comfort
Sports seats hold you in on corners and lots of adjustment/lumbar on both front seats. But on long journeys the bolsters can make your legs ache.

Security and Service

Appears OK.
Service
Vauxhall dealers are not the best, but then I've bad experiences with numerous Ford and Fiat dealers too...
