Economy
Value
They are coming down in price now but still at the top end of the used car market, You pay for what you get and I can see why.
Costs
Reasonable servicing costs if dealers avoided. Cheaper parts than most.

On the road
Driving
This is a drivers car, it handles sublimely. The gear changes are smooth the steering is refined in order to allow the driver to feel the road. They say the new Astra is better, I can't see how you can improve on perfection.
Performance
Adequate performance but it will catch you out on an overtake if you don't keep the revs up. The fuel economy is good even on this 2 litre engine.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems as yet (touch wood!!)
Image
The standard Astras look a bit drab, this model comes fitted with side skirts and spoiler. I love the Vauxhall Alloys.
Comfort
Excellent seats fully adjustable, a Chiropractics nightmare. Driving position is good, controls are all easily reachable. Loads of room in this car compared to most in its class.
