Summary
What does this car say about you?
It's not a very exciting car and there are loads of them on the road in the colour of mine (silver), so probably says I don't like to stand out too much from the crowd.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Not much... its just an Astra, really.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Not straight away, as I like to change to different cars when I do change them, but I would recommend them to others. Was the first Vauxhall I'd owned and it was reliable, economical and didn't disappoint.
What are you likely to buy next?
Have already done a deal for a Ford Focus Titanium. Had wanted a Nissan Qashqai but they were out of my price range.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,999
When did you buy the car?
September 2010
Did you get a good deal and why?
Paid the screen price for the car and the deal included £2,450 off the Renault Scenic I was trading in.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Was looking for a reliable, reasonably specced car on a budget.
What was the dealer like?
Good, fair with their valuation of my trade-in.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good - my dad has a 1.6 Focus and he thinks the 1.6 Astra was nippier to drive. I also averaged 38mpg, which I felt was decent for a petrol.
What's it like to park?
Easy enough - no visibility problems.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing major - has been a very reliable car. Only mechanical issue was snapped rear springs which were found at MOT in 2012 and were replaced.
What's most practical about your car?
Good interior space for 5 people and a decent sized boot. Was able to get our son's flat pack bed in from Ikea, which I was surprised about. The internal length of the car (screen to screen) is deceiving.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The car had the 'CD30 MP3' audio head unit, which I'm not sure if it was standard fit, but was very useful playing MP3s.
