Summary
What does this car say about you?
Not a lot. It's a family hatch, no more.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It's a car. Functional.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. The prospect of a £1400 repair bill following a flywheel failure at 40'000 miles is shocking. The 1.9 appears to be prone to a multitude of failures - particularly flywheel, clutch and EGR valves.
What are you likely to buy next?
BMW - our previous Mini was brilliant for reliability. 1 series might have been a better choice. Failing that a Golf.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£7,500
When did you buy the car?
July 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
Excellent PX value for our mini. Finance deal also good, and money knocked off the price.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
More family orientated replacement for a Mini One.
What was the dealer like?
Helpful and did a good deal - Perry's of Preston.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very nippy to drive and handles well. Sport seats might not be to everyones liking. If you're taller than 6ft it can be a bit tight behind the wheel. Ride can be a bit firm - 17" wheels have lower profile than normal and suspension is reasonably stiff. Centre arm rest would have been nice - so would cup holders!
What's it like to park?
No problems - good visibility.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Flywheel has failed at 40'000 miles. £1000 repair cost for the flywheel and possibly another £400 for clutch damage as a result - amazing considering the car is only 4yrs old and below average miles.
What's most practical about your car?
Economy - the CDTi engine gives on average 45-50mpg. Very good for a car with 150bhp.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The 150bhp under my right foot.
