Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer (2016 - 2021) 1.6 CDTi 16V (136bhp) Elite Nav 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I was foolish to trust the government and I bought a diesel (joke) in fact I have had diesels since 2006, Montego's, maestro's, and found them all cheap to run my favourite saying was hear the rumble of the engine that's putting money in my pocket!!! So when it was time to get a new car, diesel was the only option for some time I studded vehicles and Ulrica!! Renault developed a new engine it must be good because Mercedes are using it. So I looked to buy a car with this engine and Vauxhall were there. I bought the car 6 months old top of the range estate with the 136 bhp engine and with a spare wheel. why anyone in their right minds buys cars without one is beyond reason. When you hear of people being stranded , one person I heard of had a puncture in his Jag and it cost him over £600 because he had to drive on the flat tyre and ruined the alloy. Don't believe me next time your on a motorway count how many tyre carcasses are lying about ,one trip we counter 8. ( Even my new petrol car a Skoda (used for around town driving) has a spare wheel). I only use the astra for runs over 25 miles. a year after I bought it the family visited friends in France and in the round trip of just bordering on 2,550 miles the car averaged 75 mpg. I was over the moon. The car had everything I wanted space, leather (??) cruise etc, etc. I still own the car and cannot see a time when i wish to sell. My hobby if you can call it that, is seeing actually how many MPG I can get out of the old girl. localised runs never fall less that 65, but longer runs the max I have out of her once was 85 mpg, regularly I average 80 mpg on a specific trip and have the photos to prove it. There have been a few lumps and bumps on the way namely the noisy timing chain on start up, if I had known about it earlier it would have been fixed under warranty, but only if I had known!! I do have the part to fix the problem but the trouble is finding someone to do it. My car is regularly serviced every 2 years with a 12 monthly oil change done by myself. I believe this car can have a ecu upgrade but seeing that it is fine I think i will keep it at that, a person I know has had it it bumps up the power to 166bhp increases the performance and who knows could improve the fuel consumption. Needless to say at £20 a year road tax and well in excess of 65 mpg I believe there is nothing out there for the price that can touch it. would I recommend buying one well I did.
Problem is as this vehicle is getting older trying to find a good one is getting harder, If anyone wants to buy mine let me know but it won't be for ages yet HA, HA ,HA.
Good luck.
How reliable do you find the car?
replaced the steering rack under warranty ??????
Vauxhall keep bothering me to have my ECU upgraded because they cheated on the emissions, but people that have had it done says it has a bad affect on the running of the engine. I'm keeping mine as it is and waiting for my pay-out,
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
