Summary
What does this car say about you?
Probably gives the wrong impression if I'm being honest. The VXR in any colour or edition is loud and in your face so has a chavy reputation but it's really not justified.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
My wife doesn't really like it, too loud and boy racer type. I get positive compliments about the car but mostly from young lads which I don't know if it's a good thing or bad really.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I don't think so. It's good fun and looks great but next car will be a bit more refined I think.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably a mercedes or audi saloon.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,700
When did you buy the car?
April 2015
Did you get a good deal and why?
The car belonged to the dealers mechanic who was going through a divorce and needed a quick sale so I offered a fair price which was excepted.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted a astra VXR nurburgring for a while. Previously owned a focus ST, golf GTI etc and wanted to compare the VXR to them.
What was the dealer like?
The usual "I'm your best friend" dealer. Laughs at all your jokes, tells you that there's been loads of interest in the car etc etc. I got no special treatment but none was expected.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It's a normal car until you sink the pedal into the carpet, then it's a bit mental. I've had many fast cars but the VXR is like uncontrollable power. That much power in a front wheel drive car makes the steering very vague.
What's it like to park?
It's not easy but not hard. The wing mirrors are a good size which helps as the rear windows are small and the rear head rests impair your view along with the standard rear tinted windows.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Not as yet but I'm concerned with the gearbox issues that is very common with the VXR.
What's most practical about your car?
Nothing really comes to mind. It's not really ment to be practical, it's a hot hatch on steroids.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
My VXR is the nurburgring edition so has the carbon fibre bits, remus exhaust and chequered flag decals which really make the car feel special. I like the push start button, dial sweep and nurburgring embossed leather seats.
