Vauxhall Calibra 2.0i 3d (1991/H) Owner Review

Economy
Value
If it's what you're looking for, you should not be disappointed! Practical and good value for little money.
Costs
Cavalier underpinnings, but watch out for towbars! This can lead to broken back springs and worn bushes, and lots of them!
-
On the road
Driving
Well balanced and predictable handling.
Performance
For an older car, sensible around town, satisfactory when pushed - even the occassional smile when taken down the B-roads!
-
Living with it
Reliability
2.0i has the same engine as any Cavalier or even Astra of the same age, very straight forward for DIY minded people, and parts are cheap. Never had any mechanical problems myself, even at 115k miles!
Image
Not everyone's idea of a nice looking car, but for the money it will still turn a few heads and looks fast, infact they are capable of reasonable speeds!
Comfort
Practical with reasonable comfort for four adults. 60/40 split rear seat is very useful. You can even put the seats down and sleep in the back if you wanted, thanks to the length of these cars.

Security and Service
Security
Good to have a decent alarm and immobiliser. Only joy riders are likely to be after the 2.0i 8vs which helps insurance costs.
Service
Main dealers can be costly!
