Vauxhall Calibra 2.5i V6 SE9 3d (2001/X) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Fantastic car for the money.
Costs
Reasonable servicing costs. 33mpg avgerage much better than I expected for this much performance.

On the road
Driving
Ride is harsh - doesn't like bumpy roads. Handling well balanced for long corners, but can become a handful on very twisty B-roads. Plenty of room for fun though.
Performance
V6 smooth and powerful. Performance let down by high gearing - needs six gears and closer ratios.

Living with it
Reliability
Usually good, but I've had some problems.
Image
Good - until people realise it's a Vauxhall. A few people have mistaken it for a Vectra - urgh.
Comfort
Heated leather seats, air-con,CD - great! Could do with climate control and CD multichanger. Heating controls look exactly like the 1987 Astra I had years ago.
-
Security and Service
Security
Never had any problems. Has standard Vauxhall alarm and immobiliser.
Service
Usual dealer - great. Used one other dealer - terrible. Loads of dealers to choose from though.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Alternator replaced, V - belt pulley replaced.
Other
Air-con, front shocks leaking - replaced for MOT.
