Vauxhall Carlton Saloon 2.0i CD 4d (1989/G) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
In 13 months total cost has now come to over £1000, including DIY on some jobs.
Costs
Most bits are main dealer only - prices start at scary and work upwards. Some reasonable pattern prices for some parts.

On the road
Driving
Fairly nice drive. Clutch positioning crap! Good view, comfortable.
Performance
Even 2.0 seems underpowered. 2.3 perhaps?

Living with it
Reliability
The word is robust. Good workhouse, just scary prices when theres a problem.
Image
A big car with big car looks. Looks OK.
Comfort
Good comfort, except for that clutch placement. Main dealer looks better in rear window !

Security and Service
Security
Deadlocks. Central locking is playing up, locks me in. VERY PROTECTIVE CAR.
Service
Servicing and parts need fat wallets.
