Vauxhall Carlton Saloon 2.0i Diplomat 4d Auto (1993/K) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value for money, looks good too, spares can be cheap - shop around.
Costs
Shop around for spares - don't buy from Vauxhall unless you have to.

On the road
Driving
Good solid drive but back end can be a bit lively if you are not careful.
Performance
Superb, petrol lasts forever on motorways, gets a little bit thirsty round town.

Living with it
Reliability
Very good, tend to have starting problems when really hot though, never found out why. Had 2 of them, both suffered from the same thing - weird.
Image
Damn fine looking car, despite its age it still attracts admiring looks from other drivers, scares the 'wotsit' out of some who are misbehaving, still looks like an unmarked police car.
Comfort
Terrific, leather seats makes you feel like you are sitting in an armchair.

Security and Service
Security
Pretty good for the age it is, doesn't draw too much attention from the wrong crowd, bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Service
2 local dealers, both pretty good.
