Vauxhall Carlton Saloon 3.0 GSi 3000 24V 4d (1990/H) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A lot of car and performance for the money.
Costs
Thirsty when driven hard, but capable of 37/38 mpg on a run. Some parts expensive (HT leads £200 a set) but most reasonably priced.

Driving
Responsive in all gears, especially after 4000rpm when the dual ram kicks in, rewarding drive, a real wolf in sheeps clothing, can be a handful through corners if being pushed, much improved with quality aftermarket springs/shocks; gear change a bit long.
Performance
Decatted and aftermarket exhaust will give most 'performance' cars a run for their money. The 'boy racers' are right there in your mirror and become just a dot in your mirror - enough said!

Living with it
Reliability
Excellent with service every 6k miles. Takes a lot to stop this car from running. Try pushing service intervals and the car will let you know it's service time!
Image
Dated, but still well respected in the field.
Comfort
Excellent Recaro seats, good lumbar and lateral support - adequate interior, 3 adults comfortably in rear.
-
Security and Service
Security
Could be better. Locks prone to wear and freezing.
Service
I found dealerships varied across the country, generally okay.

Mine has 216k miles and other than regular wear and tear/service items, it's needed a distributor.
