Vauxhall Cavalier Hatchback 1.8i GLS Cat 5d (1994/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
There are a huge number of old Cavaliers on the market that nobody wants, so a good example can now be picked up for next to nothing.
Costs
One word covers it Cheap! Low bills at MOT time, respectable insurance group, reasonable economy round town and mind boggling economy on the motorway.
-
On the road
Driving
Comfortable and easy to drive becoming effortless on the motorway. Suspension is a little unrefined and bumpy around town.
Performance
Performs adequately but far from exciting.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Never missed a beat.
Image
Its a Chavalier it will do nothing positive for your image, the only saving grace is that there are much worse old cars out there. Tip: Always try and find an old Skoda to park next to.
Comfort
A nice comfortable car as an whole. My only gripe is that the heaters are either freezing cold or burning hot.

Security and Service
Security
Good deadlocks and the age of Cavaliers makes for a hard target with little reward, an alarm, immobiliser combo would have put them right up there with most modern cars.

Not a single problem with the car. It is exactly what the manufacturer intended, a reliable, cheap to run very competent motorway mile muncher.
