Vauxhall Cavalier Hatchback 2.0i SRi 16V Cat 5d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A good solid Cavalier is always a trustworthy buy.
Costs
Cheap-ish parts, but be scared if the engine management starts to give you problems. Sensors can burn a big hole in your pocket!

On the road
Driving
Nice to drive. Handles like it's on rails but don't push it too much!
Performance
Not overly impressed with outright performance, but very responsive most of the time.

Living with it
Reliability
Usual Vauxhall reliability apart from terrible engine management. 16 valve can be troublesome even as far as a 2000 Vectra with this ECOTEC engine.
Image
Nice touch with the alloys and side-skirts, but would any serious boy racer be happy with the standard car? Too much seen as a rep and family car but still a die-hard car compared to the Vectra!
Comfort
Lots of road and engine noise, but the dash is well laid out and the seats are fairly comfy.

Security and Service
Security
No-one has even tried to get anywhere near mines. But with deadlocks, ultra-sonic alarm and immobiliser, is there anyone daft enough out there to even try?
Service
Only really been near a Vauxhall dealer for engine management issues but happy otherwise.

Superb Vauxhall motor that is still considered a gem compared to the Vectra.
