Vauxhall Cavalier Saloon 1.8i SRi 4d (1985/C) Owner Review

Economy
Value
At £120 in original condition and totally road legal this is a fast and comfortable car - still capable of three figure motorway cruising speeds and has survived two camping expeditions across the length and breadth of the UK.
Costs
All this fun for £120, oh apart from £20 per 100 miles in petrol!

On the road
Driving
Steering can be heavy at parking, but Cross country A and B roads are also a great laugh - this is where the car really shines!
Performance
It has a lovely 1.8 engine, which is sweet and ridiculously punchy for its size.

Living with it
Reliability
Everything works, apart of some trivial squeals and rattles. Passed the last MOT. Just watch out for heavy front tyre wear and the Rust.
Image
Formerly 80's Sport Family Saloon to Old Banger, But a High Performance, Bargain Banger. Not a bad looking car at Metallic Red and in original condition.
Comfort
There is plenty of luggage space in the boot and the cabin is very roomy making it very comfortable for passengers though the interior smells a bit damp.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm and Immobiliser are a must. This car does came without this two security features. But no one tried to steal it.
Service
Dealers are expensive and don't take care very well of old cars already out of production. Take it to independent garages, they are cheaper. You can find parts for the MK2 Cavalier everywhere. There is plenty of them around.
