Vauxhall Cavalier Saloon 2.0i SRi Cat 4d (1996/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A bit thirsty around town and insurance steep, but pretty good.
Costs
Tyres, brakes and exhaust not cheap, but nice spec on SRi.
-
On the road
Driving
Powerful brakes. Pulls well from low revs.
Performance
Fsst on the straights. Take it easy in the corners.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Has been very good, but showing its age now.
Image
No head turner, but no shame either. Nice in shiny metallic blue.
Comfort
Very comfortable. No problem to drive 8-10 hours in a day.

Security and Service
Security
Deadlocks are good, but alarm is poor. I fitted an immobiliser.
Service
I once paid £375 for a big service, and they didn't even wash my car!

Engine
Has developed a rattle after 52K miles. I'm hoping it just needs timing belt replacing.
