Vauxhall Corsa Hatchback 1.5 D Merit 3d (1995/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value for money when purchasing second hand. Some decent run around diesels can be found. Vauxhall parts can be costly.
Costs
Second hand bargains can be found for around £1700.

On the road
Driving
Heavy steering due to heavy diesel engine. Ride quality is average. If thinking about fitting alloys, be prepared for a more bumpier ride and the steering pulling you over the road.
Performance
Average performance for a diesel. Very good fuel economy for the long distance drivers.

Living with it
Reliability
As long as well maintained and serviced regularly, the car is very reliable. Cheap Vauxhall parts like filters and oil are cheap at Halfords.
Image
Basic models aren't really impressive, but can be easily transformed into a cheap, economical boy racer's car. My car includes the full Irmscher styling, which is costly but worth it.
Comfort
An average, comfortable ride. Not much to say. Leg room can be cramped in rear if giants are driving the car. Again, bumpy ride.

Security and Service
Security
Basic models have no security device at all. But ones can be fitted for Corsas with immobilisers, alarm and central locking for around £250. Cars are easy to delock by swapping handles over with rear ones.
Service
Parts are very costly and can take time to push parts through for you.
