Vauxhall Corsa Hatchback 1.7 D Envoy 5d (2000/W) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Reasonably priced car. Corsa's seem to keep their value.
Costs
Cheap parts. Easy to maintain. Finding the right brake pads, fanbelt etc. bit difficult as there are so many different ones (three variations of fanbelt for the 1.7 Isuzu diesel engine!).

On the road
Driving
Like driving a small apartment block. Really heavy steering if you haven't got power assisted steering.
Performance
Drives like a pig. If you drive in straight lines it's ok. Holds the road like a blancmange round bends. Heaviest steering I have encountered in twenty years of driving. Good on fuel though. Possible to get 60 mpg if you don't thrash it.

Living with it
Reliability
Really reliable… I mean it… honest. Great starter on freezing mornings. Glo-plugs light up straight away for ignition.
Image
Old woman. At least no-one will steal it.
Comfort
Usual Vauxhall trait, where the steering wheel is not centred to the drivers seat, but two inches to the left. Seats basic, but ok. Dashboard, plastic-cheapo type. Dash illumination almost non-existent except for speedo and stereo.

Security and Service
Security
Don't leave anything in the car, except a doberman that enjoys the taste of human flesh!
Service
Not applicable.

None whatsoever.
Other
