Vauxhall Corsa Hatchback (2006 - 2014) 1.4 SE 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I'll start with the disappointing aspects. Heavy car, so struggles on hills. God knows what the 1.0 or 1. 2 would be like! Front seats very uncomfortable. Tiny glovebox. No coolant temp gauge, just a warning light. No spare tyre just a repair kit so I bought a slim tyre via eBay - there is space for it. Rear pillars large, so difficult to see to reverse. Mud collects behind rear of front wings which may become a rust trap in future. Front subframe starting to get surface rust so needs to be watched. Indicator stalk operation is weird but you get used to it. These are the only negatives I can think of. Overall very good, well designed and well built. Fine on motorways at 70-75 mph. Handles well, like a bigger car. Nice progressive brakes. Easy to service and repair so far, although I believe changing one of the front bulbs is a ridiculously long process so I'm not looking forward to that. Coil pack has broken but was easy to replace - the part cost £80. Engine has a timing chain and VVT so use proper dexos 2 grade oil and change it frequently for longevity. Doors are heavy and make a nice clunk - unusual for a small car. The version I have has automatic headlamps, electric mirrors and wipers which are nice touches for a cheap car. Up to 50 mpg if driven carefully, 40 mpg if you don't.
