Vauxhall Crossland X SUV (2017 - 2020) SE 1.2 (81PS) 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I purchased a March 2019 ‘19’ Crossland X 1.2 SE 81PS / 80 BHP with one previous private owner and just 3,000 miles on the clock in January 2020. After just 12,000 miles, a years driving and a full Vauxhall Dealership Service later the problems and weaknesses of the car started to present themselves in spades. The Major issue being a creaking sound being felt and heard from turning the steering wheel left and right and got louder by the week. After visiting two Vauxhall Dealerships on Six, yes Six separate occasions the Suspension Top Mount was diagnosed as the problem. Despite it being replaced 3 times the issue would return in days. I was then advised nothing more could be done, it was a poor design, with the rubber in the Top Mount not being fit for cold UK and Northern Europe temperature conditions (the car was built and tested in Spain) and that I should consider a New facelift 2021 Crossland as the steering and suspension parts have all been replaced and upgraded to cope with colder weather as part of the update. Seriously?!
As for the engine, it rarely delivered better than 37.6mpg as part of my daily commute and town driving. The only time it improved would be on a motorway journey, however that also came with issues. Namely, the 80bhp engine, struggled to keep at 70mph if any sort of incline should present itself and even changing down to try and get it back to speed of 70mph took way too long. As for overtaking, you really had to think ahead because of its asthmatic engine output.
Finally the gearbox, after 17,000 miles and especially from cold it was difficult to engage 1st gear or Reverse. The ‘trick’ as the Dealership advised me was to put it into 3rd or 5th gear before trying to engage 1st gear or Reverse. This was the last straw for me and I got rid of this junk and sold the car to We Buy Any Car .com in October 2021. Never again. Buyers Please Be Aware. If you a considering a pre-facelift Crossland X… then save yourself time and money and Don’t Do It!
