Should you buy one?

If you’ve been looking for a new electric SUV but all have been previously out of financial reach, the answer is a definite yes. The Vauxhall Frontera represents staggering value for money, and the price parity between electric and hybrid versions means that financials don’t need to be a consideration between the two, you can just choose the one you like best. When you consider how much cheaper it is than its rivals, it really is quite a game-changer.

The Frontera is a usable and practical family crossover that drives better and is better equipped than you’d expect for the price. Yes, the range is compromised, and it won’t work for everyone, but this is generally an electric SUV without compromise. Add in Vauxhall’s generous incentives and charging offers and it becomes almost a no-brainer.

What we like

We love how Vauxhall is selling the electric Frontera at the same price as mild-hybrid models, and it represents staggering value for money – at least as a cash purchase. It’s very comfortable and the interior is very spacious and making it an excellent family SUV that just happens to be electric. We also like Vauxhall’s approach to electric motoring by making it possible for more to switch with generous and meaningful incentives.

What we don’t like

The Frontera’s interior does feel built to a price, with certain aspects of it quite cheap and flimsy, although no worse than you’d expect for a car so much cheaper than the opposition. The range and performance, however, may prove just a bit too compromised for those used to quicker, longer-range vehicles.
