Vauxhall Frontera 2.0i Sport 3d Softtop (1994/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of car for the money and a bit different.
Costs
Cheap to insure and repair. Petrol consumption around 28mpg, but not a problem as I do not do many miles.

Driving
Feels a lot quicker than it is. Didn't feel slow after trading in my citroen AX GT. Handles well, but big tyres and rear wheel drive will cause the rear to step out if you go round the bend too quick.
Performance
Handles well, with little body roll round corners. Coil springs make it bumpy over speed bumps.

Living with it
Reliability
Starts every time.
Image
Chunky 4x4. Soft top makes it a bit different from the crowd, which is why I bought it. Soft top avoids having to leave behind roof panel for hard top models, so rain is no problem. I love it.
Comfort
Seats are comfy, but rear seats are a little tricky to get into. Steering light and controls easy to use. Slick gearchange and 4 wheel drive great on snowy roads.

Security and Service
Security
Remote control added for Vauxhall alarm, along with added starter immobiliser and microwave sensor. Alloy locking wheel nuts. Can leave it in the car park with the roof down without worry.
Service
Good service. Checked recall for fuel tank modification (heat shield) without asking. Cheaper to service elsewhere, as no high tech knowledge required.
