- Reasonable range from 73kWh battery
- Respectable charging speeds
- 435 mile, 97kWh battery on the way
The Grandland Electric launches with a decent 73kWh battery pack that offers a WLTP driving range of 325 miles – call that 260-280 miles in day-to-day driving. Higher trim levels can’t go quite as far on a charge as base Design.
A Long Range version with a 97kWh battery and an estimated range of up to 435 miles will be introduced in 2025, which should hopefully dispel any lingering range anxiety fears that drivers may still have. A dual motor all-wheel drive version using the 73kWh battery will provide better performance, if a shorter distance between charges.
Charging speeds are okay, if not groundbreaking, at 160kW but that’s fast enough a 20-80% recharge in around 26 minutes for the 73kWh pack. Enough time to grab a coffee and be on your way at the motorway services.
Servicing and warranty
You get a stingy three-year or 60,000 mile warranty with the Grandland, much less than a number of rivals these days. You battery is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles at least, with cover transferable. It’s guaranteed to have at least 70% of its original capacity through this period.
An extended warranty for the car is offered for a fee, and there are service plans available to spread the cost. As there are fewer things to worry about in an electric car, service costs are cheaper than the Grandland Hybrid.
