Vauxhall Grandland X SUV (2018 - 2021) Ultimate Nav Hybrid4 1.6 (300hp) Direct Injection Turbo/Electric AWD auto 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Perhaps I do not understand the whole petrol hybrid thing.
In the manufacturers specs they say a maximum all electric range of 30 miles can be achieved.
I have never had that maximum available to me even when I picked the car up. the electric range was 23 miles.
Now I am lucky to get a range of 18 miles after fully charging the vehicle.
I have been back to Vauxhall twice now highlighting this problem.
The answers I was given is - if I drive the car after full charge in a certain way, then the battery assesses this. So if I drive in a manner that uses the battery power quickly i.e. at speed and hard braking (which I never do ) that uses the power and shortens the range. Fair enough I understand that.
What I do not understand is that when I next charge the battery it remembers the way it was driven before and takes this into its calculation for the range I am likely to get on the new full charge.
It could get to the stage that a full charge may only give me a 5 mile range.
I am a photographer and use rechargeable batteries in my kit. If I push the performance of my cameras and flash guns then yes I know I am using more juice but - when I recharge the batteries they charge to give me the full performance once again.
The answers given to me by Vauxhall is - they can reset the battery to imitate the vehicle has not been driven before therefor giving the maximum range on a full charge.
Why oh Why is there no reset system function for me to use in order to attain the maximum range?
I suppose if I take it into the dealership every time my range dips so they can do a reset that may work.
Never again would I buy this type of vehicle. It does not do what it says in the specs and no advice given regarding the driving methods to use.
So let down over this issue otherwise a very comfortable drive.
Seems as though I paid a lot of money for a pretend hybrid car
