Vauxhall Insignia Hatchback (2009 - 2017) 2.0 CDTi ecoFLEX Design 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Firstly new engine is good, grunty 170bhp, much better than previous 160bhp one as torque is greatly improved, returns over 50mpg even if driven very hard; but despite very good engine car accelerates the same or even slower than main rivals with weaker engines??? why I don't know and traction control is "brutal" and kicks in very often in first 2 gears due to huge torque and front wheel drive.
Cabin is well made. again better than previous model, just rear manual windows are a mistake in 2016, shouldn't have happened, same with steel wheels...
Generally this car is cheap so if you think about value for money it is hard to beat Insignia and it handles amazingly well, BUT the NOISE LEVELS ABOVE 60MPH are simply UNBEARABLE!!!
NOISE is my biggest issue and why I wouldn't recommend this generally good car to anybody, compared noise levels with new Ford Focus Insignia is about 7 decibels noisier at 70mph, which is a lot.
Now for the same money I would buy a Octavia; passat, superb and mondeo are all better but more expensive, even decent trim Focus is more expensive, so in its price range not much more you can buy; I had 14 plate Octavia 2.0tdi 150 bhp and it was amazing, faster, better mpg, quieter, bigger boot, more room on rear seats, recommend.
How reliable do you find the car?
Main Ecu broke down, they had to replace but I was left without a car as courtesy cars were busy and I had to hire a car for my own money, not good as it was a 6 months old car on warranty. Air con occasionally just doesn't work.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I owned 1st generation Insignia and was happy. This one was improved in many ways but is no very reliable and feels cheap, road noise is unbearable, I have cheapest design trim. Vauxhall sells top of the range diesel engine with steel wheels and rear manual windows... come on it is 2016About their car
