Summary
What does this car say about you?
That I don't care what it says about me!!!!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Wife not keen, but that's mostly because she now likes the higher driving position of her 4x4. Also, the brakes need a bit more of a push than some cars (I think this is a feature of Omegas).
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. Have a look at the brilliant, supportive Omega Owners Forum on tinterweb (other forums are available) and judge whether my awful experience is typical. I'd say it is.
What are you likely to buy next?
Volvo (seems to get good reviews) or Mondeo (quite good reviews, and I have friends who have been pleased with theirs). Fuel consumption is no better than my old 528, without the performance, so maybe a 520?

Thought so at the time, but began to have my doubts soon afterwards!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
What was the dealer like?
Very friendly, had good feedback on eBay, traded from home.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very good, smooth, comfortable. Not as fast as my previous car , a BMW 528 auto, but fast enough for normal driving.
What's it like to park?
Not bad, but it is big! Has a good turning circle though.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Where shall I start? Head gasket failed catastrophically. Then it became apparent that the head was in appalling condition (corrosion, and had been butchered previously, studs damaged etc). Bill of £1080 to get repaired. Also, Heater bypass valve (soon to be fixed for about £120) means the heater doesn't work - I am also hopeful that this may cure the air con lack of cool. Awful cracking sound from driver's door. Windscreen wipers don't park properly.
What's most practical about your car?
Space in the back for 2/3/ large adults if you need it. Large boot, folding rear seat.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The radio's quite good, with controls on the steering wheel. It's not a high spec car, but it does have rear elect. windows, and elect. seat height adjustment.
