Vauxhall Omega Saloon 2.5i V6 Elite 4d Auto (1998/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of car for the money on a used buy.
Costs
Fuel consumption will make you cry! Servicing is pricey for a Vauxhall. Insurance is merely OK!
-
On the road
Driving
Every bit as good as the BMW 5 I drove last year.
Performance
Not that swift off the mark but very torquey and great for overtaking. Sport mode is a blast. Huge amounts of power available once you've got going.

Living with it
Reliability
Only had it a few weeks. Too early to say. I'm relying on Vauxhall popularity to keep costs down.
Image
Not the most interesting car on the road but not ugly. You buy Omega for function rather than form. There are few cars I'd rather be stuck in a traffic jam in at the moment.
Comfort
Silky smooth. Soaks up bumps very well. Smooth auto gear change and cruise control make motorway miles effortless.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm, immobiliser and deadlocks. But the car is really dull looking so nobody would nick it anyway.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
V6 sounds lovely. All in good working order at the moment... touch wood effect dash!
Other
Some dash lights are out. Drivers heated seat works intermittently.
