Vauxhall Omega Saloon 2.5i V6 Elite 4d Auto (1998/R) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Terrific value second-hand but let someone else suffer the initial depreciation.
Costs
Cheap servicing due to high number of fleet cars; you need to find a good dealer though.
-
On the road
Driving
Very smooth, plenty of power when required but cornering could be better.
Performance
Quick and smooth enough to accumulate lots of points if you're not careful.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Mechanically sound, but some minor electrical problems such as dashboard light bulbs.
Image
Sorry but this is a really stupid question: it looks great if parked next to an Escort but not as good parked next to a Bentley.
Comfort
Loads of room; fantastic driving environment; quiet and smooth; excellent seats and climate control.
-
Security and Service
Security
Deadlocks, coded custom-fit stereo, alarm and immobiliser.
Service
Find a good dealer - they are few and far between. Don"t expect help from Vauxhall themselves, as they appear not to have heard of the concept of customer service.

Problems and Ownership

Engine
Check for coolant leaks from rear of block - engine or head may need to be removed to replace pipe.
