Gets a four-star Euro NCAP crash test rating, which is unsurprisingly the same as the Vectra on which it’s based. Standard spec is dual front airbags, anti-whiplash front seat head restraints and a pedal box that moves out of the way in an accident. All cars have remote central locking, an alarm and an immobiliser.

Boot space is excellent and the seats slide forward or split and fold for extra room for larger loads. In the back it’s possible to specify a ‘travel assistant’ where there would otherwise have been a middle seat. This is a storage bin, a pair of folding tables, a fridge, cup holders, a 12v power outlet and a holder for a portable DVD player. Bear in mind the rear compartment has been designed to seat two rather than three.
