Vauxhall Vectra Estate 2.2 SRi (150ps) 5d (2002/51) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Cheap to buy as second hand, because new shape Vectra now released. An amazing amount of car for the money.
Costs
Average insurance costs (Group 13) and can attract undesirables who want to steal your wheels. Not very good on Petrol round town though. Better suited to longer journeys than the school run.

Driving
Excellent car, despite what the journos say. Unless you're a track-day hero, this is all the car you'll ever need. 150BHP, ABS and T/C. Amazing engine pulls from 25mph in top, but does 90 in third!
Performance
See above. Engine is excellent. Handling far better than any estate has a right to be.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems with this car AT ALL.
Image
What can I say - despite being an excellent car, no-one can pretend that the Vectra doesn't suffer from badge-snobbery, even the sportier versions.
Comfort
The ride does suffer because of the handling. It can be a bit crashy over our poor urban tarmac, but you forgive it anything.

Security and Service
Security
Out-of-the-box security is not good at warning off wheel-stealing youth (what car is?), so I upgraded the security to Cat 1 - no problems again.
Service
Service was excellent. Efficient, friendly and cost-effective.
