Vauxhall Vectra Estate (2003-2005) engines, drive and performance

(change model)
A comprehensive engine line-up with a good mix of petrols and diesels. However, this is a big car, and with the load area filled, the smaller engines can struggle a bit. The diesels are economical and quite refined, although still not up to the standard set by Volkswagen, Honda and Ford. 3.2 V6 is smooth, but costly to run
Handling and steering are pretty good, though not up to the standards set by class leaders like the Honda Accord, Ford Mondeo or Mazda6. It’s a tidy drive, you may find it less enjoyable on twisty roads. But the Vectra estate is designed for intercity motorway trips. It does this admirably, with good steering for motorway speeds and a good ride.
