Summary
What does this car say about you?
I need a large load carrier.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Most of them have ridden in it and think it's a spacious and comfortable place to be. Surprised that it's German designed!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Absolutely - if it was still in production.
What are you likely to buy next?
Large estate or 4 x4 - probably 1 year old.
-
Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£7,999
When did you buy the car?
March 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
A great deal from Motorhouse at Cannock.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Replace a Vauxhall Signum lost in the Cockermouth floods and needed another large load carrier.
What was the dealer like?
Polite and knowledgeable - but used a particular salesman that I had purchased from before.
-
Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It's a big car for the 1.8VVT 140ps engine - but it drives and handles well. The SRI option can be slightly harsh on our potholed excuse for roads, but this particular car is mainly used for long motorway hauls - so not a problem.
What's it like to park?
No problem - just remember that it's nearly 4.9 metres long.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
New rear brakes at 50k miles [VX dealer fit at a competitive "Service Club" price] - otherwise not a dicky bird.
What's most practical about your car?
Massive flat load capacity. Only an E Class Merc is marginally better ..... at 2 or 3 times the price. The extended wheelbase also makes it fantastically roomy for rear seat passengers.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Cruise and driving lights.
