Summary
What does this car say about you?
Dull and boring, a sheep who follows the pack. Mr Average
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Most say it looks very smart in silver when it's polished - but they have commented on the terrible gearbox and hard ride
Would you buy this car again and why?
Not a chance
What are you likely to buy next?
Big comfy 4x4 like a Jeep or Ford Explorer or a 5 series /A6 auto.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,700
When did you buy the car?
September 2005
Did you get a good deal and why?
Reasonably good as I got over £200 knocked off through haggling
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Couldn't find a decent new Mondeo or GSI Vectra for the same money. Plus it has a huge boot.
What was the dealer like?
Very pleasant and helpful with some pretty good stock.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Less than average. Not that quick for the SRI badge, the gearbox is notchy and awful, steering over-assists with hardly any feel and the seats are very hard. Offset pedals aren't great either.
What's it like to park?
pretty easy - the spoiler helps to judge the rear distance, but the stupid exhaust sticks out far too far so you have to watch it.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Ignition lock seized up during hot weather, got damp due to a perished aerial seal, exhaust went, and there is rust coming through on the doors - disgusting when the likes of Peugeot have been galvanising their cars since the 80's!!
What's most practical about your car?
Big boot can take 2 sets of golf clubs without removing the parcel shelf or moving the back seats.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Air Con is great, so is the computer - but I rarely use the A/C because you can see how badly it affects the mpg. Radio controls on the steering wheel are good too.
