(change model)
A wide range of petrol and diesel engines to suit most needs. However, they’ve made the new Vectra longer and heavier (it’s a similar size to the Omega), so the engines don’t feel as quick as they did in the old Vectra – especially in 1.8 and 2.2 form. They don’t have the confident pull of the Ford, VW or Honda rivals in this class.
The handling can’t quite match the market leaders: Ford Mondeo, Mazda6 and Honda Accord. that’s mainly because it’s built for pounding the motorways. Steering and controls are light and the ride is comfortable over every surface. SRi and GSi inject some sporty appeal, but don’t match the hot alternatives offered by competitors.
