Summary
What does this car say about you?
Not the most exciting car in the world, but it still looks good and less dated than a Mondeo of the same year. Biege metallic paint not the best colour and the base models stand out with the orange indicators (look better on higher spec models with the smoke/clear lens.). This car is just great to have as a family workhorse. I drive to work 40miles a day plus some weekend, local driving - all on about £50 petrol a week. The boot is massive and the interior has loads of room. We drove from Northampton to Euro Disney and central Paris with a bootful of luggage and 4x up - didn't miss a beat and did great on fuel (around 40mpg!).
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They laughed at the colour, but stopped when they found out how cheap it was to buy and run. I got the last laugh!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, all day long. The last uncomplicated, big family car from Vauxhall. I bet the new Insignia is more complex to fix, although it looks nice and probably drives better...
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably will get an Insignia next - although if I could justify it I would buy a Jag!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,000
When did you buy the car?
June 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
Good deal as the dealer had the car for over a month and I had a good pt-ex. Colour was against it and I bargained hard!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Great value for money family hatch.
What was the dealer like?
Independant dealer, very good and easy to deal with. Old skool type, family run business.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Not the quickest car from a standing start and handling not as good as a Mondeo (by a long way.) It's really at home on long journeys/motorway crusing. Great mpg (I get an easy 40mpg) and comfortable drivers seat.
What's it like to park?
Easy enough to park for such a big car - good all round vision.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Needed a new battery and tie-rod on front roll-bar. A/C needs charging and it needed a front spring this year for MOT (broke on a pot hole!).
What's most practical about your car?
Massive boot, comfortable, great mpg for the size of car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Cruise control, great spec for a base model.
