Summary
What does this car say about you?
At 73 now,I'm not really bothered,It looks nice,drives well,and does what I want.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They all think it's a nice car,and can't believe it's covered over 100,0000 miles.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I might,I haven't really thought about it much. I like a bigger car, they're usually great value, got more extras, and safer, and similar price to a boring little hatchback.
What are you likely to buy next?
No idea at present,my car is going so well! I have looked at a Citroen 07 C5 Exclusive Auto, which has even more extras than my Vectra. Its low mileage, with a full history, and looks a new car,and has a full leather interior. I don't want to spend too much, and this one is only £3000.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,995
When did you buy the car?
March 2010
Did you get a good deal and why?
I part exchanged my 2005 Renault Megane diesel auto, only 35,000 miles. I was glad to get rid! The Vectra had covered 55,000,mainly motorway miles, had one company owner,in nice condition, with a full history.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
My son had a Vectra diesel Elite, and he recommended it to me. I also needed to sell my Renault Megan, which had been nothing but trouble, although only 3 years old,.
What was the dealer like?
Good. He seemed knowledgeable, didn't pressure me,and seemed quite helpful,(and took the Megan in part ex!).

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I really like driving the Vectra, and it has plenty of safety features, good brakes, and the steering is very positive. Great on the motorway,or around town, roomy and comfortable.
What's it like to park?
Ok,for a big car,but rear parking sensors would be nice!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
An alternator failed at 80,000 miles,(fairly common apparently)otherwise very reliable. Plus all the usual servicing bits and pieces, tyres, timing belt, etc.
What's most practical about your car?
The auto box makes driving a pleasure, and the engine can really accelerate when needed, and it's great on the motorway.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The leather seats, and aircon are nice extras. The sat nav is good, and the auto box the best I've used, very smooth, and you seldom notice it changing gear.
