Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 35 - 49 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Apart from some heavy initial depreciation, and some outrageous pricing for the V6 diesel models, the Vectra is a decent performer in a class where the bar is not set particularly high. The Volkswagen Passat and Honda Accord perform significantly better for depreciation but few others do. For the cheapest running costs go for a 1.8-litre petrol or 1.9 CDTi.

The Vectra is starting to show it’s age and it doesn’t perform particularly well on the eco front. The 2.8-litre model is the worse culprit with CO2 emissions of 262g/km. The greenest model is the 1.9 CDTi which emits 154g/km of CO2 and averages 50mpg.

The Vectra is a dependable car with few problems reported.
