Vauxhall Zafira 1.6 5d (1999/V) Owner Review

On the road
Performance
1.6 is definately under powered especially when fully loaded.
-
Living with it
Image
Badly let down by poorly constructed, plasticy interior.
Comfort
Ride very harsh. You feel every pothole in the road, but the great seat design allows you to pack in people easily.

Security and Service
Service
Service indifferent. Have had brakes incorrectly adjusted by so called factory trained technicians. Prices varie from dealer to dealer, so its worth shopping around e.g. range of quotes for replacing heater matrix £150-£450.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Uses oil and has done from new. When you ask the Vauxhall dealers they will eventually admit that up to 1 litre per 1000 miles is within acceptable range. I think this is shocking for a modern car manufacturer.
Other
Electrical. Horn button stopped working. Light behind odometer failed (£1.50 for part, £70 for labour). Heater matrix (quotes £150-£450).
