  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Plenty for sale, so 2nd hand prices reasonable - but depreciation not a big problem either.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Parts cheap and Vauxhall dealers not expensive as manufacturers' franchises go - cars fairly straightforward mechanically.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

A bit of body roll (as you might expect), but the hefty tyres grip well - very car-like to drive in almost every respect.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

2.2 engine is swifter than it feels, although no GTi. Good mid-range pull for overtaking, takes heavy loads in its stride. Fuel economy OK for a large car.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

In 12 months, I've just needed a new alarm siren. Otherwise, 100% reliable.

    2 out of 5 2.0

Hmm - not a car I relish jumping into, but a competant workhorse and good all-round performer.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not the greatest driving position - seat firm but short in the leg, gearstick too far back. Accessing rear seats when both up could be better. Otherwise OK - tardis like inside considering exterior dimensions.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Seems adequate (alarm, immobiliser), although would you really want to nick one of these??

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

New Vauxhall dealer in High Wycombe efficient and nice to deal with.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

No problems at all, but annoying characteristic of revving up between gear changes.

    Other

Interior trim is average - not up to German / Swedish standards, but could be worse. Dashboard deadly dull to look at but well laid out.

    Ownership

Did you buy the car new?

    Used

Would you buy the same model again?

    Yes

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?

    Yes
