Vauxhall Zafira Tourer (2012 - 2018) 1.6 CDTi ecoFLEX SRi Nav 5d Owner Review

In their own words
Despite claiming to have a 134hp "Whisper" Diesel the engine is actually seriously unwilling and noisy with poor throttle response and excess turbo lag on hot days (either it's got too big a turbo or too small an intercooler, or both). The engine basically has no pull below 1500rpm so you need written invitation at junctions. The controls are average to slightly heavily weighted, so on occasion you feel like you're fighting the car just to progress. (by comparison a Ford Galaxy 1.6TDCi is a more engaging, more responsive drive and that has 20 less horsepower and is a much bigger car). The heating and air conditioning system is a bit lame as well, so above 25degrees it can't keep you cool, let alone the other 6 in the car! Otherwise it handles OK, the seating arrangement, space and infotainment system are quite clever. Had a couple of annoying things fixed, squeaky stiff clutch pedal (common fault), a rattle from a loose headlamp bolt and the alarm kept going off due to a faulty bonnet switch (again very common fault).
Overall Vauxhall aimed for average and only just achieved it, like they do with all their cars.
